The match between the Delhi Capitals and the Punjab Kings is shrouded in doubt.
The Covid crisis in the Delhi Capitals’ camp has cast a pall on the IPL 2022 match between Delhi Capitals; and Punjab Kings on Wednesday (April 20). The outcome of the Covid tests conducted by the Capitals’ players; will determine the outcome of the match, according to Cricbuzz. It’s also possible that the match, which was originally slate to take place in Pune, will be changed to Mumbai.
The Delhi Capitals’ players, who have been in isolation since Sunday (April 18); had their RT-PCR samples taken again on Tuesday morning, and the results are pending. Much will hinge on if more positive cases emerge from the camp; which has already tested positive for the virus in one player, Mitchell Marsh; and a few members of the support staff. More positive cases may potentially compel the game to be reschedule.
The Punjab Kings team, which was suppose to go to Pune for the game, has reportedly stayed in Mumbai. They will conduct a practice session in Mumbai; on Tuesday evening and will wait for the BCCI’s advice on what to do next.

Being in an emergency situation isn’t ideal. According to a BCCI insider, the game can go on as planned. “The outcomes of the tests on Delhi players will determine whether the coordinates are implemented in Mumbai.”

The Delhi players’ tests were take earlier than usual on Tuesday morning because of the seriousness; of the situation, so the BCCI could decide if the match should be plays in Pune; transferred to Mumbai, or rescheduled. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), which may be also requires to host the match; has yet to receive formal notice from the BCCI regarding the potential location change.
