During an IPL match, Virat and Faf exchange a warm embrace.
With AB de Villiers no longer with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Virat Kohli shared a happy moment with Faf du Plessis at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai during Match 6 of the present IPL 2022 season. After a top-order collapse left Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at 83 for six in 11.3 overs, the duo exchanged a heartfelt hug that left fans weeping on social media. Many fans compared du Plessis’ hug to that of de Villiers, who had a tight relationship with Kohli during his IPL career. The following is a video of Kohli and Du Plessis hugging:
Given the RCB bowlers’ overwhelming performance on Wednesday, the hug didn’t really need an explanation. Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka took four wickets in four overs and conceded 20 runs as the franchise bowled KKR out for 128 in 18.5 overs.
In the meantime, Akash Deep collected three wickets, Harshal Patel two, and Mohammed Siraj one.

Other than Andre Russell, none of the KKR batters reached the 20-run mark. Only 25 runs came off 18 balls for the West Indies all-rounder, who also hit a four and three sixes.
RCB misplaced early wickets within the chase, but much appreciated to a solid middle-order exertion, they were able to reach the objective within the penultimate over with three wickets to spare.

Du Plessis was discharged by CSK taking after the IPL 2021 season and marked with RCB for Rs 7 crore amid this year’s mega sell off, with a base cost of Rs 2 crore. Due to Kohli’s choice to step down as RCB captain at the conclusion of final season, the experienced cricketer has been named the franchise’s captain for this season.
