ICC Women’s World Cup: Ellyse Perry has been ruled out of Australia’s semi-final match against West Indies.
According to captain Meg Lanning, all-rounder Ellyse Perry has been ruled out of Australia’s; next ICC Women’s ODI World Cup semi-final versus West Indies. Perry was taken off the pitch on Tuesday owing to back pains during Australia’s match against South Africa. If we are to move farther in the competition, we will go in without her tomorrow and evaluate her.
So, while this is often a tremendous unpleasantness for her and the group; we accept that we have the profundity to cover it; and we’ll have to do so tomorrow.” Lanning, according to ESPNcricinfo.
Australia was optimistic about Perry’s speedy recovery, but they were more concerned; with putting their best foot forward in the semi-final with the personnel they had.
“To be honest, she hasn’t done much [training] in the last week. She batted a little bit in the nets yesterday and felt well, but she wasn’t in a condition; to perform at the level required tomorrow, regrettably. So that’s why we’ve made the decision today “Lanning stated.

“But, to be honest, we haven’t given much thought to the future. If we are to progress, we will continue to assess her as we go, but the team and the squad are very focused on tomorrow and ensuring that we are giving it our all because, to be honest, anything else is immaterial “she continued.
Perry will miss his second World Cup semi-final in a row, having missed the 2020 T20 World Cup semi-final and final on home soil due to a hamstring injury incurred in the final league match of eventual champions Australia.
