Tamim Iqbal a Bangladesh skipper believes his team won their first ODI series; in South Africa because they were ready to ‘go for the kill’ in the series decider in Centurion. Bangladesh bowled out South Africa for a nine-wicket victory, completing a historic 2-1 series victory over the hosts.
Taskin Ahmed took 5-35 to help Bangladesh bowl out South Africa for 154 runs in 37 overs; and Tamim and Liton Das then put on a 127-run opening stand to seal the victory for the tourists. Tamim continued his unbeaten run with 87 runs; while Shakib al Hasan contributed with 18 runs not out after picking 2-24.
Tamim believes that their first ODI success in South Africa has given; them confidence that they can win the trophy as well. “We started believing that there was a decent chance that we could win the series after we won the first match; and today it was a tremendous team performance and I couldn’t be happier,” Tamim said after the game.
“It’s quite difficult to win a series in South Africa.” They won a 3-0 series against India’s entire strength. We were confident that we could win the series, but we would have had to play exceptionally well to do so.

To win the arrangement for the first time in our history in South Africa, we needed to get out of the box and play our best cricket. “I didn’t think we might bowl them out for 150 runs the way they started.”
We said within the group that we needed to offer everything we had. When they got off to a great start and we took two speedy wickets, one thought crossed my mind: we’ll go for the slaughter. We are going to be aggressive no matter what. I told Taskin to bowl as fast as he could in the hope of getting wickets.
If you look at our past, you’ll notice that we usually choose two to four wickets, then there’s a significant partnership, and they put up a good total. The idea today was that no matter what, we’d strive to complete it as fast as possible after picking up four or five wickets.”
Tamim also expressed his admiration for the pace unit’s growth, believing that it offers his side an advantage and minimizes their reliance on spinners.

“I am quite pleased with how we performed. A bowler was named Player of the Series after taking five wickets. Normally, we think of Bangladeshi cricketers as left-arm spinners or off spinners, but our fast bowling squad is improving and has done admirably in recent years.
“I’m incredibly pleased of Taskin for winning Player of the Match and Man of the Series. Mustafizur and Shoriful were the other two fast bowlers that made an impact. Mustafizur completed the most difficult task, bowling in the death and at the top of the order. He doesn’t bowl in the middle, where two or three decent overs can be had. Every fast bowler performed admirably.
