The qualifiers will begin on August 20 and the competition will be plays in a T20 format. The tournament was originally schedule to take place in 2020, however it was postpone twice owing to the epidemic. They preserved the right to host the tournament in 2022, with Pakistan set to host the tournament in 2023.
The decision was made at the ACC’s Annual General Meeting in Colombo on Saturday (March 19); along with a vote to prolong Shah’s and the Executive Board’s terms until the next AGM in 2024. In January 2021, Shah took over the reins from Bangladesh’s Nazmul Hassan.
