Jhulan Goswami is the first female bowler to reach this milestone in one-day internationals.
Jhulan Goswami, a veteran Indian pacer, became the first woman to take 250 wickets in women’s One-Day Internationals on Wednesday. Goswami achieved the feat when bowling against England in a group phase match; of the ICC Women’s World Cup at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui; where she was playing in her 199th ODI match.
To attain the milestone, Jhulan defeated England’s Tammy Beaumonth. In women’s ODI matches, the India veteran has already taken the most wickets. Cathryn Fitzpatrick, a former Australian cricketer, ranks second on the list of women’s ODI wicket-takers with 180.
Earlier, the inconsistency of Indian hitters returned to haunt; them when they were bowled out for a paltry 134 by defending champions England.
Smriti Mandhana, the previous game’s century, top-scored with 35, while wicketkeeper-batter; Richa Ghosh added 33 before England knocked India out in 36.2 overs after deciding to field first.

It was a stark contrast to India’s performance against the West Indies in their last encounter; when they posted 317 for 8, the best total in the history of the showpiece event; with to hundreds from Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur.
England’s bowlers were led by Charlie Dean (4/23) and Anya Shrubsole (two wickets); as the Indians struggled to put together a strong combination.
It is a must-win encounter for title holders and four-time champions England; who had endured three defeats in as many matches.
India, on the other hand, came into the match third in the standings with four points; from three matches, having beaten Pakistan and the West Indies while losing to New Zealand.
