Tearful Juan Martin del Potro is on the verge of retirement and leaves the Argentine Open
Juan Martin del Potro, the winner of the US 2009 British Open; lost in what looked like a farewell match in front of home fans at the British Open Tournament on Tuesday. The 33yearold, who hasn`t played since 2019 due to a injury was eliminated; by his compatriot and friend Federico Delbonis (61, 63) in an emotional match in Buenos Aires. Del Potro was already in tears when the last match was over. Argentina said at a news conference that it would decide whether; to play in the Rio Open tournament in Brazil next week on Wednesday.
“I will talk to specialists once more; I got to beware of my knee and after that we’ll see,” said Del Potro; who did not run the show out a full return; to the circuit and also will continuously take off the window open,” he said. “(But) on the off chance that nowadays was the final time I will take off happy,” the Argentinian said.
Once positioned as tall as No. 3 within the world, Del Potro told fans after the coordinate his choice was spurred by his wellbeing problems. “This is the minute I trusted would never come,“ he said. “I don’t have the quality to go ahead. I gave it all.”

Minutes afterward, Del Potro put his headband on the net as enthusiastic fans chanted. Del Potro, who has too won the 2016 Davis Glass and a silver medalist; at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Diversions within the same year, has had different wrist and knee surgeries within the past decade.
