Four India Under-19 players at the World Cup, including captain Yash Dhull and vice-captain Shaik Rasheed; were ruled out of the Group B match against Ireland in Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago; after rapid antigen tests revealed they were positive for Covid-19.
The other two players who tested positive in quick antigen testing on the morning of the team’s; second league game against Ireland were wicket-keeper batsman Aardhya Yadav and wicket-keeper batsman Siddharth Yadav. Aside from the positive cases, one player was sick with a virus; and two others were placed in isolation because they were considered close contacts.

“We’re not sure if it’s a false positive.” As a precaution; we have decided not to play these players until the results of the RT-PCR tests are known. Because rapid antigen tests can be inaccurate at times, we wanted to conduct new player testing. The first player to test positive was Yadav. Anneshwar Gautam, his close contact, was also placed in isolation after he tested positive four days ago. Vasu Vats, who was in close contact with the four players who tested positive, was also advised to isolate.
Manav Parakh, another player, is suffering from a viral infection.
“After Siddharth Yadav tested positive four days earlier, the Indian team management chose to isolate him and his close contact; Anneshwar Gautam. Vasu Vats has no symptoms, but he is not in the team today because he was seen; as a close contact of Dhull and Rasheed,” a BCCI official added.
