A court has issued a FIR against Gurugram Hospital and two physicians for placing cotton in the stomachs of women.

A Gurugram court has ordered the filing of a FIR on the charge of medical negligence; for leaving a cotton swab in a woman’s abdomen during the caesarean birth of her kid.

A court has issued

The decision was issued on Tuesday by the Gurugram chief metropolitan magistrate; in response to a complaint filed by the woman’s husband; whose earlier requests for the registration of a criminal case against; Shiva Hospital in Sector 12 were denied by the police.

The woman’s husband, Diwas Rai, a Darjeeling native who lives in Sikandarpur with his wife Swastika; alleged in his court filing that his wife was discovered pregnant in April 2020.

Because of Covid, there was a lockdown, and I had lost my job. I didn’t have any money in such a predicament, so I accompanied my wife to a government Anganwadi center. In his complaint to the court, he stated; The Anganwadi worker advised me to take my wife to Shiva Hospital in Sector-12.”

“I took my wife to Shiva Hospital, and on November 16, 2020; the doctors operated on her, and a baby girl was born, and the hospital charged me Rs 30,000,” he stated.

Rai claims that his wife began experiencing abdominal pain and swelling, as well as red marks on her stomach; shortly after delivery, prompting him to take her back to the hospital; where physicians simply prescribed vitamins and other pain relievers.

However, when the drugs prescribed by the Shiva Hospital doctors failed to work; Rai took her to another hospital; where doctors believed she had gastrointestinal problems and prescribed a new course of therapy.

“I went my wife to a third hospital because she was still not getting any relief and had dropped; 16 kg despite feeling all the discomfort that started after delivery,” Rai added. “After a CT-Scan, she was found to have some cotton strand like items in her abdomen.”

He went on to say that after he reported the incident to Shiva Hospital, they dismissed the findings at first; but then dispatched an ambulance to my house and picked up and admitted my wife without my knowledge or consent.

“They made her sign some blank documents at the hospital, then operated on her and removed the swab,” Rai explained.

“They completely ignored my allegation when I went to the police station,” Rai said. The police have filed a FIR against Dr Poonam Yadav and Dr Anurag Yadav; of Shiva healing center in Gurugram’s Division 14 police station under sections 417 (cheating); 336 (act endangering life or individual security of others), and 337 (causing harm by act endangering life; or individual security of others) of the Indian Corrective Code, according to the court’s order.

Segments 338 (act imperiling life or individual security of others); 506 (criminal terrorizing), 509 (offended to a woman’s unobtrusiveness); and 34 (common deliberate) of the IPC were too cited within the FIR at Division 14 police station. The case is being explored, concurring to the police.
