Some time recently resigning from Test cricket in 2023, David Warner needs to win the Cinders in India.
David Warner has nothing left to prove after 89 Tests and a decade at the top level; but the flamboyant lefthander still has a few things on his bucket list.
Two crucial benchmarks for Australia opener David Warner before retiring; from Test cricket are winning the Ashes series in England in 2023 and defeating India in their home backyard.
Warner, who turned 35 in October this year during the T20 World Cup; where he earned the player-of-the-tournament award in Australia’s title triumph; said that there are still a few things he’d like to fulfill before retiring from cricket’s longest format.
“In India, we still haven’t beaten India.” That would be a good thing to do. And obviously, we had a drew series (against England in 2019), but maybe; if I get the chance and opportunity, I’ll consider going back,” Warner was quoted as saying by ‘ESPNcricinfo.’

In three series in England and two series in India, Warner has played 13 and eight Tests, respectively. However, he has a terrible record in both countries, averaging 26 and 24 without a century in both.
Warner will be 37 years old by the time the Ashes tour of England comes around; but for the left-handed opener, age is only a number.
“I think James Anderson is the standard these days for older males,” he remarked.
“As we go through our days, we look up to him.” However, for me; it’s all about giving it my all and putting runs on the board.
“I’m in good contact.” As I previously stated, I was out of runs but not out of form; so maybe I’ll be able to put some more numbers on the board as the year progresses.”
