Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja credited the IPL with Harshal Patel’s first participation for the national team.
Harshal earned his India international debut today in the T20 series against New Zealand. He also took two wickets, indicating that he was in good form.
The seamer has made 63 appearances in the IPL, the most recent of which was the most memorable. With 32 wickets, he became the first Indian to take the most wickets in a single edition. In the process, he also won the purple cap.
Ajay Jadeja also stated that he wants to maintain Harshal Patel as a secret weapon for the World Cup next year. He advised against overusing Harshal in the run-up to the event. Until the tournament in Australia begins, Team India will play a total of 19 T20Is.

“If it was not for the IPL, I don’t think people would have said let’s bring Harshal Patel into the side. What he did in the IPL, was an eye-opener for several people. The key to his bowling is his dip. In spite of the New Zealand batsmen knowing what he does with the slower ball, they had no clue and still struggled. I would like India to have him as a weapon when they get to the World Cup and not blunt this weapon by the time you get there.” he said
In his debut for India, Harshal Patel was named player of the match for his run of 2-25. He was instrumental in limiting New Zealand to just 153-6 in both conditions, which were strongly influenced by dew.
