Axar Patel, an all-rounder for Team India, believes the hosts will be prepared when they face New Zealand later this month. A two-match Test series between the two teams will begin on November 25 in Kanpur.
The Kiwis will play three T20Is before the red-ball series begins, after competing in the T20 World Cup final in the UAE on Sunday. This will be their first assignment in the second edition of the ICC World Test Championship.
“I will try to perform as well as I’d done during the Test series at home against England. It will be a good series against New Zealand. They perform better in seaming conditions than in pitches favouring spin. That will be challenging for them; we have the home advantage.” Gujarat said
“At the same time, they’re playing really well in both red-ball and white-ball formats – they defeated us in the World Test Championship final – and therefore we can’t take them lightly. We have to be ready with our plans.” Axar added
Both sides met each other earlier this year in the inaugural World Test Championship final. In Southampton, New Zealand hammered India by eight wickets.
Kyle Jamieson took seven wickets, including a five-wicket haul, in cloudy conditions that aided the seamers.
Ravichandran Ashwin
As a bowler, the 27-year-old cricketer has come a long way in the last few years. He bowled brilliantly alongside experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in his debut Test series against England. In three Tests, he took 27 wickets.
Following the Kanpur Tests, the caravan will travel to Mumbai for the series’ second and final Test, which will begin on December 3.
