However, Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has praised India’s Jasprit Bumrah as the best T20 bowler in the world, dismissing comparisons to young Pakistani spinner Shaheen Afridi.
When India takes on Pakistan in their first T20 World Cup match on Sunday in Dubai, both Afridi and Bumrah will be crucial for their respective sides, but Amir believes Shaheen has a long way to go before he can equal India’s speed spearhead.
“It would be foolish to compare Bumrah with Shaheen right now because Shaheen is young, he is learning. Bumrah has been doing good for India for quite some time and he is doing so well. He is the best T20 bowler, I think right now. Especially in the death overs,” Amir said while speaking on YouTube channel ‘Uncut’.
“Shaheen is Pakistan’s best bowler this time. The way he has been performing in the last one and a half years. So this will be a good match-up. Bumrah bowls brilliantly with the new ball and among youngsters, Shaheen is the best when the ball is new,” Amir further added.
Pakistan, according to Amir, has a better fast bowling assault than India, but Kohli’s team has a greater spin tank.
Hasan Ali
“As far as fast bowling is concerned, Pakistan is better. Hasan Ali and Shaheen are doing well and Haris Rauf too. These are the best T20 bowlers in the death overs. From India’s point of view, Bhuvi was struggling in the IPL, so Bumrah is the only one you can say is bowling well,” Amir said.
