Chennai Super Kings (CSK) celebrated their IPL 2021 triumph like real champions. With smiles and joy all around among players and spectators.
On Friday, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 27 runs in the IPL 2021 final in Dubai. After losing the toss, CSK batted first and put up an amazing 192 for 3 on the board. Led by opener Faf du Plessis’ 59-ball 86.
On the bowling front, Shardul Thakur finished with 3 for 38, while Ravindra Jadeja and Josh Hazlewood each took two wickets. Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer scored half-centuries for the Kolkata Knight Riders, but the rest of the batting order crumbled as CSK suffocated Kolkata for 165 runs.
CSK’s social media accounts released photos and videos of the players and supporters celebrating after the great victory. CSK all-rounder Thakur turned 30 on Saturday, which was a cause for a double celebration.
MS Dhoni
CSK captain MS Dhoni hailed runners-up KKR for their tremendous comeback in the IPL 2021 season after claiming the trophy. Dhoni even claimed that KKR deserved to win the IPL 2021 more than anyone else.
“Before I start talking about CSK, it’s important I talk about KKR. For the position they were in after the first phase, it is very difficult to come back and do what they have done. If any team deserved to win the IPL this year, I feel it was KKR. I think the break helped them.” Dhoni commented
With only two wins in seven games, KKR was languishing in the bottom half of the IPL 2021 points table. However, they mounted a remarkable comeback in the UAE leg to qualify for the playoffs. They then defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Eliminator and Qualifier 2, before losing in the final to CSK.
