Brian Lara, the legendary West Indian batsman, blames the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) administration for the team’s poor performance on the field. With only 6 points, SRH finished last in the points standings. Issues in the locker room have been blamed for a lot of their on-field problems.
As a result, Kane Williamson was named captain after a poor start to the 2021 season. After losing his captaincy, David Warner was also dropped out of the playing XI. Since then, he has only played in a handful of games for the team.
Because of bad management, Lara believes the players did not perform to their full potential. In order to fight for the title again, SRH needs a big makeover in the auction, according to him.
Manish Pandey
“They had a very bad year and not just on the field, I’m almost sure that the management should take some responsibility for what has happened because they just did not play to the best of their abilities. Manish Pandey leading the team today, I am not sure that is a good choice for the future,” he said
Lara also stated that rather than a foreign talent, a local player should lead franchise teams. Electing a foreign captain, according to the former West Indian hitter, may lead to selection complications sooner or later.
“I am someone in total favour of a good local player leading the franchise because sometimes you’re just carrying an International captain in one of those four slots. I’m not going to call it, but there is a team that is doing it. SRH will have to do a lot of shaking up to get the right group to contend with.” he added
