Former Britain captain Andrew Strauss opined that it’ll be troublesome for Joe Root’s ‘bruised. And battered’ group to create a comeback against a ‘spirited’ Indian equip within the remaining Test matches.
“They were favourites but let things slip before lunch (on the final day) and then had another top-order collapse,” Strauss said
“Those early wickets put gigantic weight on the center arrange and India fair had sufficient overs to bowl them out. It was feisty.”
From an apparently comfortable position, Britain fell to a 151-run overcome on the ultimate day at the Lord’s.
Virat Kohli
“Every series with India, and especially Virat Kohli, is feisty and as the match was on the line you anticipate nothing else. It has been five brilliant days of Test cricket.
“India was exceptional and there are times when England look like they were going to get out of jail. You have to say that India deserved it, they did enough to win. England is going to be absolutely batter and bruise as a result of that,” he added.
Strauss has too called for a alter in England’s top-order after another disillusioning appearance by the batsmen.
For the first time in Test history, both Britain openers were dismiss for ducks within the same innings of a home match.
“At a few stages, if you keep being two or three down for nothing, it’s attending to come back to haunt you.”
“Yes, they were two great balls to induce freed of Burns and Sibley. At that point, Joe Root is beneath the weight, (Haseeb) Hameed is beneath the weight. After that Jonny Bairstow and also the center arrange as well. You fair can’t keep doing that time after time,” Strauss said.
Strauss assures that the woefully out-of-form opener Dom Sibley maybe drop ahead of the third Test at Headingley
“I think it might be time to bring Sibley out of the firing line. He has looked out of touch. I think Ollie Pope is probably going to come back in, who has been in. And around the squad but is it right for him to be batting in the top three? It is not an easy solution,” he said.
