Three big positives for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2021

Between 2009 and 2016, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) never won the IPL and finished second three times. RCB has always had superstar players and a lot of hype over the years. RCB has never gone all the way to win the title due to a lack of depth in their bowling department and a few tactical missteps.

This year has been different; for the first time since 2011, the RCB has made the playoffs after only 12 matches. Their team appears to be considerably more balanced, the Indian contingent has been performing, and the great players have stepped up to be counted on several times.

We take a look at 3 reasons behind the success of RCB this year:

1) Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell has been in outstanding form for RCB this season, and his consistency in the UAE leg has been particularly impressive. The right-hander has 498 runs at 45.27 with a strike rate of 147.33 in 14 games this season.

2) The performance of Indian players

RCB has relied significantly on international players throughout the years, and the Indian component has mostly gone unnoticed. This season, though, they have reversed the trend. RCB has two uncapped Indian players in KS Bharat and Harshal Patel who have lit up the stage.

3) Consistency in selection

RCB has not always been linked with consistency in selection, as they have cut and altered their personnel after every encounter. This season, however, they have stayed with the players they believe in and give them ample time in their respective roles, which has resulted in excellent results for the team.
