India head coach Rahul Dravid is currently in Bangladesh as the team is taking on Bangladesh in the ongoing Test series. Ahead of the ongoing red-ball battle, both sides played a three-match ODI series, which the hosts won by 2-1.
While the Men in Blue could not win the ODI leg, one of the biggest positives for them was the return of form for Virat Kohli. The ex-India captain smashed a brilliant hundred in the final ODI to end his century drought in the 50-overs format.
Interestingly, Kohli came back to form under Dravid’s coaching. In Asia Cup 2022, the Delhi-lad scored his maiden ton in the T20Is against Afghanistan. He continued to shine in the 2022 T20 World Cup. The right-handed batter scored a memorable 82 not out against Pakistan, an innings that will go down as one of the best T20 knocks.
Dravid, who has been coaching Team India since late 2021, recently spoke about Kohli’s form and said as a coach, it is always tough to see when a player like Kohli goes through a rough patch. Dravid mentioned how it was fantastic to watch Kohli train and prepare for his game.
“It was not easy for him since the standards that he has set for himself. It has been fantastic to watch Virat Kohli train and prepare over the last one and a half years,” Dravid told official broadcaster SonyLiv in an interview.
“As coaches, it is our job to look beyond those numbers and see that he had batted really well in that period of time,” the India head coach added.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing Test against Bangladesh at Chattogram, Kohli failed to impress with the bat as he got out for a solitary run in the first innings. He will be looking to end his century drought in the longest format as well. virat kohli cricket bettingIPL 2021: Virat Kohli Becomes First Indian to Reach 10,000 Runs in T20 Cricket
Indian cricket team and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, Virat Kohli, became the first Indian to reach 10,000 runs in T20 cricket during his side’s clash with Mumbai Indians on September 28, 2021, in the second phase of the 2021 Indian Premier League.
Kohli was playing his 314th T20 match (across all forms: international, domestic, and franchise), when he hit Jasprit Bumrah for a six to bring up the milestone.
The 32-year-old became the fifth player to reach the 10,000-run mark after Chris Gayle (14,275), Kieron Pollard (11,202), Shoaib Malik (10,832), and David Warner (10,019). Kohli is also the second-fastest to get to this milestone (299 innings) after Gayle (285 innings).
The RCB skipper is set to step down from his position at the end of the current IPL campaign – a decision which came after the announced he would step aside from leading the Indian cricket team in T20I cricket after the ICC T20 World Cup later this year.
He will, however, continue to lead the national team in Test and One-Day cricket.
RCB have already qualified for the play-offs of IPL 2021, and Kohli will be hoping to lead his side to the coveted trophy before he steps down as captain. The elusive honour has evaded him over the past seasons, and the closest his side got to winning the title was in 2016, where Hyderabad Sunrisers got the better of them in the finals.
This is the first time since 2011 that RCB have reached the playoffs with matches in hand, and the captain called upon his side to improve his games as they inch closer towards the end of the campaign.
“It feels amazing (qualification). I don’t think after 2011, we haven’t done it with games to spare, but it’s a great position to be in. Eight wins out of 12 games is a great campaign for the team,” Kohli said after beating Punjab Kings on Monday evening.
“Now we have two more opportunities to finish in the top two and that gives them added motivation to play even more fearlessly,” he added.
RCB are third on the IPL table, with 16 points from 12 games, and have two games remaining – against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals.virat kohli cricket bettingIndia coach Rahul Dravid reveals how he handled Virat Kohli during his rough patch
