Shikhar Dhawan reveals funny jams with opening partner Rohit Sharma. Dhawan remarked of Rohit, “He remembered a couple of lines from the song, which he used to sing and then laugh.”
Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have been among India’s most productive opening duos. As opening partners for the Champions Trophy in 2013, the pair got their start in life. Due to their dominance in the slot, the team did not search for another pair for nearly ten years. Now that Dhawan is not playing for his country, the veteran shared a humorous side to his friendship with Rohit.
Very little is known about the conversations that occur between two hitters in the middle. On Friendship Day, the southpaw disclosed an inside joke between the two. Fans are aware of Dhawan’s passion for music from Punjab. The incident occurred during their playing days when the Delhi batter would sing a Punjabi song by the renowned singer Surinder Shinda called “putt jattan de bulaonde bakre.” When his spouse sang the song, Rohit used to adore it and would jokingly hum along.
I’ve been opening with him for eight or ten years, so we have a close relationship. He is a precious individual. I remember that he used to enjoy it when I sang a certain song, “putt jattan de bulaonde bakre,” and that was how it used to go. He would then sing the same song while glancing at me. It’s a single instance that keeps happening. Dhawan said to Star Sports, “He used to sing and then laugh, and he remembered a few lines from the song.”

Rohit, Dhawan dazzled in opening role
In One-Day Internationals, Rohit and Dhawan are India’s fourth-most successful opening combination. Together, the pair scored 5148 runs at an average of 45.55 in 115 innings, with 18 century stands. India discovered the younger slot to fill in opener roles in red-ball cricket and the shorter format with the arrival of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, respectively. In the IPL right now, Dhawan is captain of the Punjab Kings.
