Sunrisers Hyderabad openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma thrashed Delhi Capitals bowlers on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The duo were at their lethal best as they started the innings together. They set a record for the highest powerplay total in Indian Premier League history. Their onslaught saw SRH score 125 runs in just six overs.
Head and Abhishek are one of the successful opening pairs in the ongoing IPL 2024. SRH has broken numerous records as a result of their quick starts. The team even broke their own record for the highest IPL total in days, scoring 287 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The southpaw has opened up about his on-field friendship with Australia’s opener. He also cited their off-field cohesiveness as one of the reasons for their success.
“It’s obviously a joy to watch him, and we’ve been talking a lot off the field, which is really helpful. He’s someone I’ve been looking forward to batting with all season, and even the Punjab boys know how much I admired Travis Head in all three formats, so we’re lucky to have him. In the post-match press conference, Abhishek stated, “I have put in a lot of hard work before this tournament in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and that is really helping me.”

The 23-year-old was in excellent form, scoring 46 runs off just 12 balls before being dismissed in the seventh over of the match. He hit Lalit Yadav for three sixes in the over, totaling 21 runs in only six balls. The partnership between him and his companion, Head, laid the groundwork for the Hyderabad franchise, which scored 266 runs. They successfully defended their total, winning by 67 runs.
