South Africa’s Tristan Stubbs enters the record books with a triple century in first-class cricket. Stubbs scored 302* runs for the Warriors against KwaZulu Natal Inland.
Tristan Stubbs, a star South African wicketkeeper, became the 11th batter to achieve a first-class triple century in South Africa, and the eighth since readmission. Stubbs has become the leading run-scorer in Division 1 of the domestic championship, with two century in five games.
It is worth noting that the 23-year-old batted for eight hours and 19 minutes, facing 372 balls for his 302* runs. Stubbs’ Warriors team declared on a score of 517 after losing only three wickets to Kwa-Zulu Natal Inland.
Notably, neither team is in position to advance to the tournament’s finals, with Inland finishing last and Warriors fifth. The triple century will assist Stubbs get into South Africa’s Test team. The teenager made his Test debut against India in the New Year’s Test in January 2024. He also played for South Africa A during their tour of Sri Lanka in July 2023.

Tristan Stubbs opted out of NZ Tests for SA20 2024
Notably, the 24-year-old was one of the players that was required to play in the SA20 but chose to skip the Test series in New Zealand. The great player enjoyed a standout season in the SA20, earning back-to-back titles with Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Stubbs finished the tournament as the leading run scorer, with 301 runs, three half-centuries, and a 168.15 strike rate.
Tristan Stubbs’ performance suggests that he has the potential to become a South African all-rounder. Already a regular in T20I cricket, the 24-year-old plans to expand his repertoire in Test and ODI cricket as well.
Stubbs, like Test cricket, has only played one One-Day International for South Africa. Where he remove after scoring six runs.
