Troubleshooter Virat Singh speaks out on India A, IPL snub

Troubleshooter Virat Singh speaks out on India A, IPL snub. “I have only my performance to show at my disposal, that’s what I am doing,” Virat went on to say.

Virat Singh has emerged as Jharkhand cricket’s go-to player when things get rough. Positioned at the critical No. 4 spot, he is constantly at the crease, saving his team from danger. Despite his outstanding accomplishments, the southpaw has encountered difficulties, including being overlooked for India’s ‘A’ team and being passed over in the IPL 2024 auction.

In their most recent match against Services, Jharkhand fell to 8 for 3, then 65 for 4. However, Virat remained steadfast and created a brilliant 108 studded with 15 boundaries. His efforts helped Jharkhand reach a commendable total of 316 runs. This was not his only demonstration of ability; since cricket resumed after the Covid-19 suspension, he has scored eight centuries in 17 first-class matches, frequently rescuing his team from severe difficulties.

“Mere has mein sirf perform karna hai, and I’m focusing on that [because all I have to show is my performance]. Yes, I’m slightly disappointed. I was expecting a call-up for India’s ‘A’ squad, which was recently selected. But don’t worry. “I can only control my performance,” Virat stated, as reported by News18.

“When there is a vacancy and the selectors feel like picking me, the call-up will occur. So, whatever was gone is now gone. We still have matches left in the Ranji season and must do well in them. Hopefully, they will make India’s ‘A’ team in the future, which I am aiming for,” he added.

Virat Singh shares his experience of meeting MS Dhoni

During the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, MS Dhoni praised the then-20-year-old’s skill and fitness while playing for Jharkhand. Virat is currently focusing on fitness and training, and he shares his routine on social media through gym and ground workout videos. Reflecting on his time with Dhoni, he emphasized the crucial lessons he learned from the cricket legend.

“We have chats with him when he is available. We were playing Vijay Hazare (in 2016-17), and he asked me about my technique and fitness. I wasn’t having a fantastic run at the time, but his remarks inspired me. Of course, when that comes from the captain of the Indian squad (Dhoni led squad India at the time), you are inspired to work hard, and I followed suit,” he added.
