Uncertainty looms over availability of Bangladesh players for full season. Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam are all set for the IPL auction. The BCB has still to decide if they will be available for the entire season.
As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction approaches on December 19. The fate of three Bangladeshi pacers hangs in the balance. Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam are preparing for the auction. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has yet to decide whether to release these players for the entire IPL season.
With a basic price of INR 2 Crore for Mustafizur and INR 75 Lakh and INR 50 Lakh for Taskin and Shoriful, respectively, their participation in the IPL remains questionable. The BCB is carefully reviewing the decision. taking into account any conflicts with the national team’s itinerary as well as the impending World T20.
“If the IPL clashes with our national team, their (cricketers select in the IPL players auction) chances of playing the entire tournament are very slim. ” Furthermore, there is a World T20 in June, and we want to be cautious in handling them because we need to think about their injury management. So we want to take steps while taking everything into account. ” BCB Cricket Operation Chairman Jalal Yunus stress to Cricbuzz.

Notably, the IPL 2024 is set to begin on March 24, 2020. Clashing with Bangladesh’s home series against Sri Lanka, posing a scheduling conundrum for the cricket board. The BCB intends to carefully manage their best players in order to balance their commitments to national and franchise cricket.
Yunus further stated that if Taskin Ahmed is not select due to unavailability for the entire season. He will be disappointed once more. Taskin miss out on playing for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2022 because the BCB refused to release him despite the franchise’s request.
The BCB’s cautious position is not unusual. As there have been previous instances of NOCs (No Objection Certificates) being denied for various cricketing events. Taskin’s previous refusals of offers from Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League and an English County spell last season demonstrate the board’s dedication to prioritizing national interests and player well-being.
