Umesh Yadav, a veteran fast bowler from India, has been acquired by Essex County Cricket Club for the remaining three games of the current County Championship season. The 35-year-old took four wickets at an average of 71.50 in three Championship games when playing for Middlesex last year.
The 35-year-old had to conclude his stint early due to a quad injury he suffer during a One-Day Cup match against Gloucestershire. The veteran will join the Essex team as the second foreign player after Simon Harmer and will take the position of New Zealand fast Doug Bracewell. He is anticipated to be a member of the squad for the matches against Middlesex. His former club, and Hampshire at home, as well as the away game against Northamptonshire.

The 35-year-old has taken 288 wickets for India in international matches after participating in 57 Tests. 75 ODIs, and nine T20Is. Since playing for India against Australia in the World Test Championship final at The Oval in London. Which India lost by a score of 209 runs, he has not participated in any competitive cricket.
Head coach of Essex Anthony McGrath acknowledge his joy over Umesh’s signing. Voiced his hope that the veteran would help his team’s offense in forthcoming games.
“Umesh is a superb signing for us, and we all know what he will be able to bring to our attack at a crucial time of the season. He is vastly experience and has taken wickets at the top levels of the game for more than a decade now. So as well as contributing during our run-in, we hope he can pass on some of his wisdom to our young players too. ” McGrath said.
