For the next Indian domestic season, Indian batter Nitish Rana is all set to transfer from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh. The former captain of Delhi recently approached the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) to request a No Objection Certificate (NOC) in order to participate in domestic matches elsewhere. The 29-year-old had a bad Ranji Trophy 2022–23 season. As a result, he was benched for his team’s match against Tamil Nadu.

Rana also canceled his participation in Delhi’s match against Hyderabad. Rana was deprived of his captaincy after scoring 71 runs in three games at an average of 17.75 runs. Delhi had chosen to make Yash Dhull the team’s captain. An official came forward to express his thoughts after hearing rumors that Rana will join the state of Uttar Pradesh.

“Nitish Rana will most likely visit UP for the domestic season, yes. A formal announcement will be released soon as formalities are sort out. That is all I have to say, the UPCA representative told Cricketnext.

Once a player has made up his mind, there is very little we can do: DDCA official

In addition, an official spoke up to say that there is no point in forcing a player to remain back if they don’t want to after hearing that Nitish Rana requested a No Objection Certificate from the DDCA to play for other teams in the domestic competition. He also suggested that the atmosphere in the dressing room would change if Rana were persuade to stay with Delhi in defiance of his wishes.

It was useless to make a player stay back. Once a player has up his mind, there isn’t much we can do about it. We are unable to make promises, offer other items, or discuss selection-related issues. When we make a player remain back, it has an impact on the atmosphere in the locker room as well. So, I’d say it’s in everyone’s best interests,” a DDCA representative stated.

The sudden change in captaincy, when Yash Dhull was given the reins. A major factor in Nitish Rana’s unhappiness while he was in Delhi. However, reuniting with Rinku Singh, a colleague from the Kolkata Knight Riders, could be a benefit of his relocation to Uttar Pradesh.
