Steven Finn ends his professional career. Finn appeared in 126 international matches for England.
Former England international Steven Finn announced his retirement from professional cricket after overcoming various injuries. The 34-year-old bowler represented the Three Lions in 36 Test matches, taking 125 wickets. He has also played 69 and 21 ODI and T20I matches in his white-ball career, taking 129 wickets.
Finn announced his decision by confirming that he has been battling an injury for the previous 12 months and has conceded defeat, thus deciding to put up his boots. He went on to note that the road hasn’t been easy owing to various injuries he’s sustained over the years, but the pacemaker has relished every minute of it.
“I’ve been fighting a battle with my body for the last year and have conceded defeat.” I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been able to pursue cricket as a career since making my debut for Middlesex in 2005. The voyage hasn’t always been easy, but I’ve enjoyed it all the same. “To have played 125 games for England, including 36 tests, far exceeded my expectations,” Finn told BBC Sport.

I want to thank Sussex Cricket: Finn
Finn joins Sussex in 2021 after representing Middlesex for over a decade. The cricketer praised the club for resurrecting his career and providing him with excellent support over the last year. He also remarked that he liked his stay in Sussex and complimented his former club, Middlesex.
“I’d like to thank Sussex Cricket, in particular, for their support over the last 12 months and for warmly welcoming me into the club at the start of last season.” It’s a fantastic environment to play cricket, and I’m sorry I haven’t been able to contribute more on the field since joining the club. I’m leaving England, Middlesex, and Sussex with some incredible experiences shared with wonderful people. “Those will be with me for the rest of my life,” Finn said.
