Daren Sammy takes a sly dig at India amid an ICC title drought. India last won an ICC championship in 2013, when they won the Champions Trophy in England.
It is apparent that the Indian squad has been struggling for several years to win an ICC title. Former captain MS Dhoni led the side to Champions Trophy victory in 2013. But team India has not to win an ICC title since.
Despite consistently producing some of the top players in the world, India has yet to win a major title. Seeing the side’s thirst for an ICC trophy. West Indies head coach Daren Sammy took a playful dig at the side for failing to win a significant title.
Sammy lavished admiration on India’s young players, saying that while the country produces some of the best talent. It is vital to remember who wins international competitions at the end of the day.
“When you look at the players they’ve been able to produce, Hardik Pandya, Jaiswal, all the guys they’ve produced over the years, you have to remember who’s winning international tournaments,” Daren Sammy told journalist Vimal Kumar in a video posted on the latter’s YouTube channel.
“As I previously stated, Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Sanju Samson, who did not play, have been performing. Hardik Pandya, who is young but experienced in the team. “Once again, it speaks to the system that keeps producing these kids,” Sammy added.

Sammy also praised youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal, who recently made his debut for India and impressed in his first international appearance. According to Sammy, Jaiswal looked like he belonged on the greatest platform, which stems from the caliber of first-class cricket.
“Jaiswal has 1800 runs in nine first-class matches, nine hundreds, and then he comes to Dominica in his debut game and looks like he belongs at the international level.” That is due to the high standard of first-class cricket in India, which allows the youth to be ready for international cricket when they arrive,” Sammy explained.
