Sunrisers Hyderabad fires head coach Brian Lara and names Daniel Vettori as his replacement. Before the 2022 season, Brian Lara joined the team as batting coach and strategic advisor.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, an IPL franchise, fired famed West Indian cricketer Brian Lara as head coach on Monday, August 7. Notably, Lara join the organization as batting coach and strategic advisor prior to the 2022 season and later succeeded Tom Moody as head coach prior to the IPL 2023 season.
SRH did not have a strong season in the previous two editions. Finishing eighth with six victories from 14 matches in 2022. Furthermore, with Lara as Head Coach in 2023, they ended last in the points table, with only four wins from 14 games.

Meanwhile, the organization has named famous New Zealand cricketer Daniel Vettori to replace Lara. Vettori has extensive coaching expertise, having served as the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2014 to 2018. Since May 2022, he has also served as the Australian Cricket Team’s assistant coach.
SRH have failed to qualify for playoffs since 2021
Things haven’t gone well for SRH since the IPL 2021. When they finish last on the points table for the first time since their inception in 2013. Fans were especially upset with their captain, David Warner, who was benched after the first eight games.
Notably, Warner guided them to their maiden IPL win in 2016 and was also the leading run scorer in 2015, 2017, and 2019. The Australian opener also propelled them to the playoffs in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020.
The franchise will strive for a turnaround in the upcoming season under the guidance of Aiden Markram and Vettori, and will look to be a major contender for the prized championship.
