Kamran Akmal urges PCB to stop making excuses before WC 2023. According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has requested that the International Cricket Council (ICC) modify the venues of a handful of Pakistan’s ODI World Cup 2023 fixtures.
On Tuesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) published the fixtures for the upcoming ODI World Cup, which will be held in India from October 5 to November 19.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided a draft schedule to the participating teams earlier this month. Pakistan set to play Australia in Bengaluru and Afghanistan in Chennai, according to the draft schedule. According to ESPNcricinfo, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wanted the venues of these two matches switched in order to make the Babar Azam-led team the favorites to win. However, the ICC did not include these proposed alterations in the final schedule.
Former Pakistani wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal claimed in an interview that these “excuses” only reflected poorly on the former champions.
“Teams should no longer be concerned about weather or venue conditions.” These incidents should not occur in international cricket. Wasim Akram, the legendary swing bowler, echoed Kamran Akmal’s sentiments, stating that there is undue pressure on Pakistan to perform in Ahmedabad.
“There’s no problem with it. Pakistan will play wherever they are given the opportunity. Simple. “This unnecessary stress of ‘we won’t play in Ahmedabad’…you ask Pakistani players, they don’t care where their schedule comes,” Akram cited by The Indian Express as saying.
