The Indian squad lead by Rohit Sharma fell further behind Australia in the World Test Championship Final. After a weak surrender by the Indian top-order in the second innings. After Virat Kohli’s departure, the team was at 71/4 when star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja led a valiant fightback against the Australian bowlers.
To reach Australia’s massive score, the Indian squad required a strong opening stand between Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma. Despite a promising start, Rohit caught in front of the wicket by his opposite number after missing a flick. Gill was also out in the next over as an ill-advised leave proved lethal.
Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli’s wickets after the tea break gave the Australians complete control of the game. Australia had their tails up and were on track to complete the Indian innings early, only for Ravindra Jadeja to derail their intentions. The top Indian all-rounder teamed up with experienced middle-order hitter Ajinkya Rahane to form a vital fifth-wicket partnership.

Nathan Lyon dismissed Jadeja on the stroke of Stumps
While Rahane’s approach was measured, Jadeja did not spare any loose deliveries from the Australian bowlers, particularly the pacers. During his quick knock, he rode his luck a little, as a couple of edges eluded the fielders in the slip cordon. However, he fell just two runs short of a well-deserved half-century. After veteran Australian spinner Nathan Lyon put a halt to his antics at the crease.
The 71-run stand was broken when Jadeja was completely bowled by Lyon. Effectively ending India’s comeback barely fifteen minutes before Stumps. During his 51-ball spell at the crease, the southpaw hit seven boundaries and a magnificent six.
