In the IPL 2023, Ajinkya Rahane has scored 209 runs in five matches, including two fifties.
The IPL (Indian Premier League) 2023 has begun, and experienced Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane’s performance has been among the most talked-about of the season. The 34-year-old was signed by the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 auctions for INR 50 lakhs.
Although Chennai’s decision to give Rahane a chance appears to have paid off, he has been in a league of his own during the recent T20 tournament. With 209 runs in five games and a strike rate of 199.05, he has been one of Chennai’s most crucial players in the competition.
Rahane recently hit his second half-century of the season as the four-time champions faced Kolkata Knight Riders in the tournament’s 33rd match. Rahane scored 71* runs in 29 deliveries. Following the game, the seasoned batter came out to discuss his performance at the competition.
“The only thing I tell you… I really enjoyed my knock, really happy that we won this match. You get a chance to learn many things when you play under Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni). As a batter and cricketer, you always want to grow. The way the format is evolving, I feel as an individual you have to keep growing and developing your skills,”
Rahane stated this during the post-match press conference.

As you can see, I wasn’t getting many chances to play one or two years ago: Rahane
Furthermore, Ajinkya Rahane poked fun at his former organizations, claiming that he did not have as many chances in prior IPL seasons. Notably, when playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders the previous season, the 34-year-old saw little action for the two-time winners.
“The turning point is here I’m getting chances to play. I was really happy when CSK picked me. They gave me opportunity to play and express myself, If you see, I was not getting opportunities to play one-two years ago. And, if you don’t play matches, how would you show what shots do you have in your armoury,”
Rahane finished.
