The BCCI confirm that the 3rd  Test would be moved from Dharamsala to Indore. Due to poor outfield conditions in Dharamasala following construction work, the site relocated.

Following the early conclusion of India’s Test series opener against Australia in Nagpur. It announced that the third Test match of the present Border Gavaskar series. Which was schedule to take place at Dharmasala from March 1st to 5th, will be changed to a different site. The third Test will be held at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

It is worth noting that several reports on Sunday confirmed that the HPCA stadium. Which hosted just one Test match so far, won’t be able to entertain India and Australia for the third Test due to renovation works at the ground. On Monday morning, the BCCI issued a formal statement confirming the same. Meanwhile, this will mark the second international game at the Holkar Stadium in less than two months.

“The third Test of Australia’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy tour of India. Initially slate for the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala from March 1 to 5, change to Holkar Stadium in Indore. The magnificent cricket venue will not host the third Test match

Due to the terrible weather conditions in the region, the HSPA relaid the whole outfield following the monsoon, which delayed its preparations for the third Test between India and Australia. Himachal had to play their home games at the Nadaun Stadium for the Ranji Trophy season due to repairs.

An unnamed HSPA official expressed hope that the venue will pass the BCCI’s inspection and be able to host the third Test match. However, the BCCI decided to move the site to Indore when a committee of officials discover that the location undercooked for their impending Test assignment. They suspected that the location not been tested in domestic matches. Which is standard practice once a new outfield is constructed.

The postponed Test will be only the third at the rescheduled site, which has previously played two Tests, one against New Zealand in October 2016 and the most recent against Bangladesh in November 2019. In addition, the most recent international game in Indore just finish ODI series between India and New Zealand.
