Misbah-ul-Haq has spoke out against the Pakistan Cricket Board’s potential employment of Mickey Arthur. Arthur, who coach the Pakistan national team from 2016 to 2019, is expected to return, but in a different capacity.
The former South African-Australian cricketer is the leading candidate for the role of Pakistan men’s team director. The PCB’s negotiations with Arthur had previously failed, but the board’s tenacity has now helped them achieve an agreement.
Misbah was not please with the news, blaming former Pakistan players for destroying the system to the point that the board must seek to other nations for elite coaching talent.

The PCB is nearing a deal with Mickey Arthur to become team director of the men’s squad. Arthur does not want to give up coaching at the county level. Therefore this agreement allows him to maintain both roles. It is anticipate that Arthur will not accompany the Pakistan national team on every tour, but would instead be accompanied by a chosen core of support workers.

The PCB has been debating whether to hire international or local coaches for a long time. According to Misbah-ul-Haq, former players and the board itself are to blame for Pakistan’s inability to rely on indigenous talent.
