South Africa will play their first game on Monday 24th October when they play the winner of Group B, which has yet to be decided. That game will take place at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
Games will be played in most states in Australia over the course of the tournament. The venues used are as follows. The MCG, Melbourne. The SCG, Sydney. The Gabba, Brisbane. The Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. Optus Stadium, Perth. Bellerive Oval, Hobart. Kardinia Park, Geelong. The semi-finals will be played at the SCG and Adelaide Oval, with the final to take place at the MCG.
Being the home nation and defending champions, Australia are viewed as the team to beat heading into the tournament but they are not in the best of form. Aaron Finch’s side have just suffered a 2-0 series defeat against England and before that they also lost 2-1 against India. However they have a team packed with talent and as they showed in the last World Cup they can rise to the occasion when it matters.

They beat Pakistan 4-3 before warming up for the World Cup in fine style by beating Australia with relative ease last week. If they produce their best on a consistent basis Jos Butler’s men will take some stopping. India will also be in the mix. They have a side packed with superstars who have just warmed themselves up nicely in the Indian Premier League.
Pakistan and South Africa also have the potential to cause an upset, while Sri Lanka could be dark horses as long as they make it to the super 12s.
It is the big hitters that really excite the fans in T20 cricket and there will be plenty on show throughout the tournament. David Warner has been in good touch for the Aussies and could take the World Cup by storm, while England have recalled Test captain Ben Stokes and we all know what he is capable of.
