There are several leggies in domestic cricket that have the potential to play for India: Mishra, Amit. He noticed the example of Yuzvendra Chahal and myself being the most successful Indian bowlers in the history of IPL.
Amit Mishra, a former Indian cricketer and leg spinner, quipped that the country is brimming with brilliant young leg spinners who will soon be representing India on the biggest stage. The 40-year-old is also prepared to train new and prospective leg spinners that require his assistance.
Amit Mishra recently played for Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy after previously representing India in 2017. Leg spinners, according to Mishra, are valuable assets to any side, not just in red-ball cricket but also in the game’s other formats. He was struck by the fact that Yuzvendra Chahal and I were the most successful Indian bowlers in IPL history.
“Earlier, people thought that the utility of leg spin was diminishing with the advent of T20 cricket. But they have been completely proved wrong. Leg spin is not just effective in Test cricket, but it’s equally effective in limited-overs cricket. Just look at the IPL. I being a leg spinner, along with Yuzvendra Chahal are the two most successful Indian bowlers in IPL history. So why not have more opportunities for the leg spinners in all formats of the game,”
Mishra said.

The senior cricketer shows no signs of slowing down and intends to play domestic cricket for at least another couple of years. Apart from playing local cricket, he has kept a close eye on young spinners in the country who have the potential to represent India. He is also open to helping out young and aspiring leg spinners in the country.
“India has a big pool of leg spinners. We have quality spinners in domestic cricket. I do not want to take names but there are more than half a dozen leggies, who have the potential to get into the Indian side. I am very happy to train any young leg spinner who comes up to me for help,”
He added.
