The 2023 World Cup may slip through India’s fingers due to BCCI-ICC taxation worries. The BCCI had already advised the ICC that “nothing can be done” in terms of tax solutions.

The ICC levied a 10.3% surcharge on India’s income share at the time, and the BCCI is currently battling it in court. The global organization has requested the BCCI to offer the necessary tax solutions for the 2023 World Cup. Which appears improbable at the present considering the hefty tax amount that was already shaved from the earnings by the ICC.
“This is BCCI money. If the ICC does not resolve this issue before the World Cup and instead deducts it from India’s income share from the ICC, a court fight would ensue. ” According to News 18.
Although the administration has yet to rule out exemptions this time, there has been no movement on the matter. Given the massive population and fan love in the country for the game. It is likely to be a significant talking point in the cricketing community if the World Cup is shifted out of India.
