Rishabh Pant and I are not having any particular conversations. – Paras Mhambrey, before to India’s opening Test matchup with Bangladesh. Rishabh Pant has played 31 Test matches and amassed 2123 runs at an average of 43.22.

A day before the Bangladesh Tests began, India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey disclosed that Rishabh Pant. And the Indian team management had not met to discuss either of his test cricket performance or strategy. Pant, who recently appeared slow in the white-ball format, will be keen to make a statement. And according to Mhambrey, the think tank will undoubtedly not offer Pant any advice prior to India’s first Test match against Bangladesh at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

The 50-year-old said of Pant that the stumper-batter is well aware of his position and what the team requires of him. The southpaw has played in 31 Test matches and has amassed 2123 runs at an average of 43.32. He will seek to improve his numbers against the Bangla Tigers, who have a rather poor bowling lineup.

“We are not having any special discussion with Rishabh. That’s his game and we know that. Nothing changes, that’s the way he prepares for any format, white ball, and he is pretty much aware about his role in the team. Our conversations are never around the way he is playing as he knows what the team expects out of him,”

Mhambrey said.

Although Bumrah and Shami will be missed, we see this as giving others a chance: Mhambrey

Even though Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, two of India’s top pacers, will miss the series, Mhambrey thinks that it will eventually create opportunity for others to stand out and solidify their positions. The veteran cricketer praised Umesh Yadav as well, who is expected to be the third seamer in the starting XI.

“Bumrah and Shami will be missed but we look at it as others getting an opportunity to play Test cricket and perform for the country,” 

He said.

“The team management has spoken to him and had discussions and we have lot of clarity as far as Umesh is concerned. The other way I look at it is that he will spearhead the attack and he has lot of experience going into the series. I am also happy how Siraj has progressed in Tests and happy that he has delivered,”

He added.
