Women’s IPL is expect to begin on March 3 and conclude on March 26. The inaugural Women’s Indian Premier League 2023 (WIPL) will take place in India from March 3 to 26. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced intentions for the first tournament during the Annual General Meeting in October, a significant boost for women’s cricket in India; however, the dates and schedule for the event have still to be finalized.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the BCCI plans to hold the competition a week. After the completion of the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup, which is set to begin on February 10 in South Africa. The first WIPL will feature five teams and 22 matches throughout India. Each side will have 18 players, with a maximum of six international players. Allow to name five foreign players in their starting eleven (four from full member nations and one from an associate nation).

Each team will play each other team twice, for a total of 20 group-stage matches, with the table topper qualifying for the finals.

The second and third-placed teams will compete in an eliminator game for a berth in the second round.

Earlier on Friday (December 9), the BCCI invited bids for the Women’s IPL 2023-2027 media rights. The bids will be available around January 8, and the deadline for selecting proposals is December 31. Instead of an e-auction, the entire procedure conduct through a close bid. The BCCI has not established a starting fee for any category. Television, digital, and a mix of the two will be the three categories for media rights.

Meanwhile, the BCCI will hold a mini-auction for the IPL 2023 but has yet to finalize the dates for the men’s event. According to reports, the board is seeking confirmation on the availability of the international players. They also want to finish the season before the end of May so that India can compete in the World Test Championship final, which is expect to be held at The Oval on June 7.
