An enraged PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja state that the Asia Cup 2023 hosting rights should never award to Pakistan in the first place if India could not travel to the country.
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since the 2012/13 season, and the Indian squad last visited Pakistan for the 2008 Asia Cup. Cricketing relations between both nations appear to have deteriorated following the Mumbai terrorist attacks later that year.
