We’d want to see 10 Indian players like Suryakumar Yadav: Kanitkar, Hrishikesh. Suryakumar Yadav has 1164 runs at 46.56 with a strike rate of 187.43 in 31 appearances in 2022.

Hrishikesh Kanitkar, a former middle-order hitter for India and the current head coach of the India U19 team, praised Suryakumar Yadav, the top-rated T20I batter in the world, stating he should serve as an example for many batters worldwide. The 32-year-old Mumbai batsman has been in outstanding shape for some time.

In recent months, Suryakumar has routinely scored runs for India. On Sunday, November 27, at Seddon Park in Hamilton. He was batting on 34* off 25 balls in the second One Day International matchup versus New Zealand when the game abandone due to rain.

“We would love to see ten players in India like Suryakumar. But I don’t think you can make somebody like that as he is an exception; what he does very few batters will be able to do. He will be an inspiration to a lot of batters all over the world to be very unconventional and not stick to the normal ways of batting,” 

Kanitkar said.

“So, what we have seen from him is that he practices and did it as a child as well. He has been rewarded for playing tennis-ball cricket. He has developed those shots and stuck with them,”

Kanitkar added.

Suryakumar overcame New Zealand to win the Twenty20 International series with 124 runs scored in two games. He previously finished third in the T20 World Cup 2022 with 239 runs at an incredible 189.68 strike rate, including three half-centuries in six games.

In 31 T20I matches this year, the Mumbai batsman has 1164 runs at an average of 46.56 and a strike rate of 187.43.

He now wants to deliver another dependable effort when India and New Zealand play the third and final ODI of the series on Wednesday, November 30 at Christchurch’s Hagley Oval.
