Martin Guptill’s New Zealand central contract was terminate. In T20Is and one-day cricket, Guptill ranks first and third, respectively, for runs scored by New Zealand.
Veteran opening batsman Guptill of New Zealand is the third New Zealand player to choose to forego signing a central contract, joining Colin de Grandhomme and Trent Boult. The choice make in response to his exclusion from the just-complete T20I series against India.
Over the last ten years, Martin Guptill has been a standout for the Blackcaps in the limited-overs format and is the nation’s top run-scorer in T20 Internationals. The seasoned opener is no longer playing due to the rise of the youthful, brash hitter Finn Allen.

The experienced batter received accolades from NZC CEO David White for his outstanding efforts and services to the national squad. He said the board would not prevent him from looking into options outside of New Zealand. The flamboyant batsman continues to hold the record for the second-highest individual score in ODI cricket with a 237*. And he is the third-highest run scorer for the Kiwis in the 50-over format.
