Mahela Jayawardena lauded David after seeing him play for the Mumbai Indians.
“I believe he will have free freedom (to score freely), and the good news is that there are no expectations on him,” Jayawardena said in The ICC Review.
“Personally, I believe that is an excellent place to be. Australia has a really excellent lineup, and Tim will offer that x-factor if they choose to deploy him at No.6, where they need a big bat and an explosive hitter. Having such choices allows Australia to fall back on someone like that.”
Former Australia opener Matthew Hayden recently praised him as a “big X-Factor” with “huge killing instincts.”
