‘He is more skilled than I am.’ Sourav Ganguly heaps praise on Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli scored a spectacular century in the Asia Cup 2022 to end his century drought.

Sourav Ganguly, BCCI president and former Indian captain, has heaped praise on Virat Kohli, even claiming that the latter is far more skilled than him. In the Asia Cup 2022 match against Afghanistan, the 33-year-old ended a nearly three-year drought of scoring an international century. His unbeaten 122 off 61 balls was his maiden T20I century, and he couldn’t have returned to form in a better way.

Kohli has played 102 Tests, 262 One-Day Internationals, and 104 Twenty20 Internationals for India and recently became the third Indian batter, after Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, to reach the milestone of 24,000 international runs. He continues to set records, and Indian fans will be hoping that Kohli can carry his Asia Cup form into the T20 World Cup next month.

We played in various generations and a lot of cricket: Sourav Ganguly

Ganguly stated that Kohli is more skilled than him and that this was the only valid comparison. He mentioned himself and Kohli playing a lot of international games in different generations and predicted Kohli will comfortably surpass his tally by the time he retires.

“The comparison should be based on player skill. I believe he is more skilled than I am. We played in various generations and a lot of cricket. I played in my generation, and he will most likely play more games than I did. Currently, I have more playing time than he does, but he will catch up. “He’s incredible,” Ganguly said on his YouTube channel TRS Clips.

From 1992 to 2008, Ganguly captained India in 113 Tests and 311 One-Day Internationals. He was also one of the greatest captains India ever had. After becoming the BCCI president, he has significantly advanced Indian cricket.
