Ajinkya Rahane begins the Duleep Trophy with an unbeaten double century. On his return to competitive cricket, Ajinkya Rahane scores an unbeaten 207 runs off 264 balls.

On his return from injury. Veteran Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane smashed a double century in the Duleep Trophy 2022 quarter-final clash. In May 2022, the former vice-captain last played competitive cricket for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2022. He suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL 2022 season, ruling him out of India’s June tour to England and the second half of Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy 2022 campaign.

This season, the 34-year-old batter captains the West Zone in the Duleep Trophy. Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal and Prithwi Shaw got West Zone off to a fast start against North East Zone, putting on 206 runs for the first wicket. Shaw smash 113 runs off 121 balls before being caught out, but Rahane, who bat at three, continue the good start by batting sensibly with Jaiswal.

Rahane and Jaiswal combined for 333 runs for the second wicket and both scored double hundreds. Jaiswal got out in the first session of day three after scoring 228 runs off 321 balls. Rahane was unbeaten on 207 off 264 balls before declaring his innings on 590 runs.

Rahane drop from India’s squad following their 2-1 Test series loss to South Africa earlier this year. However, he is demonstrating a strong desire to return to the national team setup as soon as possible. Prior to his Duleep Trophy double hundred, he scored a century against Saurashtra and a fifty against Goa in the 2022 Ranji Trophy. Rahane stated prior to the start of the Duleep Trophy that he is looking for a fresh start and a successful domestic season this year.
