‘Mr. Fix It’ moniker by team management, giving him the green light to go and play freely.

“I feel like if I play good T20 cricket. I’ll be in that team (T20 World Cup) for sure. ” Smith was quoted as saying on Tuesday by cricket.com.au.

“I’ve been given the ‘Mr. Fix It’ role for the last couple of years, and that tag has now been removed from me.” The right-hander believes he can now play his natural game without hesitation in the shortest format.

“I felt like I could go out and play with a lot more freedom and naturally for the Sri Lanka tour, and I didn’t have any kind of hesitation in the back of my mind.”

“I can just take the game on, and if I want to smack someone for six first ball, I can do so freely,” Smith added.

Smith’s position in T20s had been called into question with the emergence of players. Such as Mitchell Marsh (who now occupies the No.3 spot that Smith once held), Glenn Maxwell, and Marcus Stoinis. Smith batted twice in the three T20s against Sri Lanka, scoring five off four balls in the second game and an unbeaten 37 off 27 balls in the third.

His strike rate has increased from 91.89 (in three innings during last year’s World Cup) to 120.37 in four innings this year. From October 16 to November 13, Australia will host the T20 World Cup.
