Hong Kong qualified for the Asia Cup 2022 with an eight-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates last night. They went undefeated in the Asia Cup Qualifier in Oman, winning all three games. Hong Kong won the toss and elected to bat. UAE scored 147 runs after failing to bat out their 20 overs. Hong Kong executed their run chase with precision, reaching their target in 19 overs. With his four-wicket haul for 24 runs, veteran star Ehsan Khan was named player of the match.

Asia Cup: Hong Kong’s captain expressed his delight at qualifying and thanked the Hong Kong Cricket Board for their assistance.
Captain Nizakat Khan of Hong Kong stated, “I’m at a loss for words to express how I feel. I’d like to thank Hong Cricket for all of their help.
Our strategy was the same; we knew we needed to win all three games to qualify for the Asia Cup, and we did just that. We took it game by game, and the boys fought hard. This is a big tournament for us to show off our talent, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone on this team.”
UAE Captain Chundangapoyil Puthiyapurayil Rizwan stated, “Our bowlers went for a lot of runs, which we could attribute to the dew because the ball was coming off the bat nicely. So there is much to be learned, and we will grow stronger as a result of this experience.”

Hong Kong’s next opponents will be India on August 31 and Pakistan on September 2.
