Sourav Ganguly After India’s Women’s Cricket Team Loses CWG Gold Medal Match Against Australia. The President of the BCCI, Sourav Ganguly, has congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team on their silver medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games.

The President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, has congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team on their silver medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games. However, he also stated that the team would be disappointed if they did not win gold because it was “their game.” India was defeated by Australia by 9 runs in the gold medal match at Edgbaston, Birmingham, after failing to chase down 162.

“Congratulations to the Indian women’s team for winning silver ..But they will go home disappointed  as it was their game tonite ..@BCCIWomen,” tweeted Ganguly.

Australia captain Meg Lanning chose to bat first and posted 161/8 thanks to Mooney’s 61-run knock. Renuka Singh and Sneh Rana both took two wickets for India.

In the chase for 162, India was in command, led by Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues. However, the side collapsed from 118/2 to 152 all out, and Australia eventually won.

Harmanpreet Singh top-scored for India with 65 runs.

New Zealand earlier won the bronze medal in women’s cricket after defeating England.

Harmanpreet spoke to NDTV after winning silver and said: “Yes, it is an important moment for all of us. We were participating for the first time, and the way we played this tournament was amazing to watch. Were on the verge of a gold medal, but we made the same mistakes we’ve been making in big tournaments. We need to keep working on our lower-order batting. I am confident that we will do well in the upcoming tournaments. This silver medal means a lot to me; it will undoubtedly inspire young girls back home “Harmanpreet explained.

Tahlia McGrath of Australia tested positive for COVID-19 before the CWG gold medal match, but she was allowed to compete.

“They did inform us prior to the toss that it was something beyond our control. We went with the sportsmanspirit because she wasn’t that sick, we did what we had to do because it was out of our hands “said India’s captain.
