While the short ball is his main issue, watching Iyer gives the impression that he is unable to decide at what pace and gear he will bat in a T20 game, which is not the case when he is taking strikes in the 50-over format.

Even if Iyer makes the Asia Cup or T20 World Cup squads, he has a slim chance of making the first XI in a crowded top-order.
