The ECB has announced the departure of head scout James Taylor. “Everyone at the ECB would like to thank James for his hard work and dedication. We wish him all the best in the next chapter of his career,” said Rob Key.
On Thursday, June 9, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the departure of head scout James Taylor. Following the appointment of Rob Key as managing director of England men’s cricket, the England team has undergone several changes.
Taylor named head scout after national selector Ed Smith’s position eliminated in 2021. Taylor assisted then-head coach Chris Silverwood in the men’s team selection process. According to reports, Key is interested in reintroducing the position of national selector and is considering former England batter Ian Bell for the position.
Key is also said to be interested in separating the selector’s role for each format. The former England batter praised Taylor’s dedication to the game and thanked him for his contributions to the national team.
“Over the last four years, James Taylor has been a great servant to English cricket. As both a player and an excellent administrator. ” He has a strong love for the game and is familiar with the current demands of a modern cricketer. Having play with and against the majority of England’s set-up and pathway players. “Everyone at the ECB would like to thank James for his hard work and dedication, and we wish him the best of luck in the next chapter of his career,” Key said, according to ESPNcricinfo.
