Former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds wa killed in a car accident in May of this year, shocking the cricket world. Last month, former Australian cricketers paid tribute to the former all-rounder at a public memorial service held at a stadium in the coastal city of Townsville. Shane Watson has now praised Symonds’ impact on the game, referring to him as “Viv Richards reincarnated.”

Andrew Symonds was a key member of the ICC World Cup-winning teams in 2003 and 2007.
He was an important member of the Australian team in all three formats throughout his career.
“You felt bulletproof when you were on the same team as Andrew Symonds. Having him at point and just knowing he always had your back no matter what. And to bat with him was something very special. It is shattering to think he is no longer with us. I look back at old footage I have seen over the last couple of weeks and (shaking head) he was so good, just so incredibly good. And to go with it one of the best teammates you could ever have,” Watson said on
“His poor two children, such lovely children who adored their father. We need to rally as much as we can around his family, because I know he would do the same for us. In his playing style, he was essentially Viv Richards reincarnated. Even before I played against him, I’d heard about this big, powerful, six-hitting batter who could do it all and was an incredible athlete “He continued.
Watson went on to say about Symonds: “With his bowling spin and medium pace, he was one of the best fielders in history. His all-around ability was something we hadn’t seen before and won’t see again.”
Symonds represented Australia in 26 Tests, 198 ODIs, and 14 T20Is.
Symonds a gun fielder, and batters were always cautious when attempting a quick run when he present. In domestic cricket, the right-handed batter represented Queensland for 17 seasons, and in county cricket, he represented Gloucestershire, Kent, Lancashire, and Surrey.
